Luxury holidays in Canfranc
Just south of the French border in north-eastern Spain, Canfranc is the destination and the journey, and not just for trainspotters. Railway stations may not be very salubrious these days, but back when King Alfonso XIII commissioned the one here, they were works of art – modern industrial architecture couldn’t dream of looking so good. The Pyrennean peaks of the Aragón Valley are yours for the hiking, or you can stick with the transport theme on a tour of Canfranc’s historic hub.
When to go
If you like your Pyrenees covered in snow, time your visit between November and March. During the summer, temperatures peak in the mid-20s.
