Luxury holidays in Lake Powell
At the heart of Utah and Arizona’s Glen Canyon Recreation Area is Lake Powell, an enormous sapphire reservoir ringed by red rock cliffs. Follow in the footsteps of the Navajo by hiking the sculpted sandstone terrain or rent a boat and lazily explore the shores, making sure to cruise past Rainbow Bridge, the world’s largest natural rock bridge, and Horseshoe Bend, where the Colorado River makes a spectacularly scenic U-turn.
When to go
As you may expect, the lake is most popular during the summer months – thousands of families rent houseboats from Wahweap Marina during the school holidays. We prefer September, when the temperatures aren’t so fiery and the crowds have dispersed.
