These 35sq m rooms have views of the hotel’s 17th-century courtyard, but inside they cut a sharp and modern figure, showcasing high brick ceilings, concrete walls and minimalist furniture. Geometric brickwork and cement tiles give the rooms an eye-catching industrial edge, but earthy tones like these have also been a mainstay in Mexican building for generations. Most of the rooms don’t have windows on account of the building’s historic layout, but they still feel spacious thanks to their vaulted ceilings and Dutch doors, which can be opened to let in the light (or a cooling breeze). Each room has a king-size bed and a bathroom with a rainfall shower. All Colonial King rooms also have free WiFi; a flatscreen TV; minibar; iPod dock; air-conditioning and organic bath products.
