Luxury holidays in Central London

Central London is the (hectic but handsome) heart of the heart. Tradition, commerce and culture collide on streets that are lined with famous monuments, listed buildings, galleries, boutiques and some of the world’s best restaurants. Whether you’re in once-seedy Soho or stately Mayfair, previously-seen-on-a-postcard British icons are found on every corner: tourist-pleasing double-decker buses, Savile Row tailors and Buckingham Palace among them.

When to go

London’s a year-round destination, but the most popular time to visit is May to September, when the city’s most alive and kicking.

Getting there

  • Planes

London Gatwick is the most convenient airport for South London, but Heathrow’s a better option if you’re staying in the city centre.
  • Boats

You won’t need a car in London, and will almost always be better off using public transport. Black cabs and ride-hailing apps are readily available, too.
  • Automobiles

The Tube is still the fastest and easiest way to rattle through Central London. Just be prepared for a sardine scenario during rush hour.
