Luxury holidays in Nambiti Game Reserve

Poised between Johannesburg and Durban, Nambiti Game Reserve’s bushveld backdrop is dotted with the Big Five and nature-respecting lodges. Careful conservation has transformed this former cattle estate to a sprawling reserve that teems with wildlife, such as lions, elephants and zebras. And it’s not just the animals that are duly respected – community outreach and training programmes ensure the human inhabitants on this sun-soaked savannah are just as cared for.

When to go

Autumnal April and May and spring-like September and October charm with balmy temperatures, searing sunsets and animal glimpses by watering holes.

Getting there

  • Planes

Durban’s King Shaka International Airport is a three-and-a-half hour drive from Nambiti Game Reserve. Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport is over four hours away by car or opt for a one-hour connecting flight to Ladysmith Airport, which is a 40-minute drive from the reserve.
  • Automobiles

If you’re flying into one of South Africa’s international hubs, you can hire a 4x4 to make the driving distances more comfortable, but a car won’t be hugely necessary once you’re in your stay’s capable safari hands.
